A charge controller is a device that monitors and controls the charging of batteries in a solar, wind or water powered system. Typically two types of charge controllers are used - Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and Multiple Power Point Tracking (MPPT). Alternative energy systems without a charge controller would quickly overcharge and/or damage the batteries. Charge controllers with MPPT technology utilize the latest technology to maximize the power that can be produced from solar panels.
